To prevent all kinds of dirt, sand or worse from entering the variator and the rest of the crankcase, the air drawn in to cool the variator must be filtered.

That's what this filter is for; replace it at every major service. This keeps everything clean and performing well, and reduces wear and tear.

Before mounting, soak it in engine oil, squeeze it carefully so that no oil drips out after positioning, then position it.
